High School Dual Enrollment
ARCA is a PUBLIC CHARTER VIRTUAL SCHOOL and we are our own district. Your Student is NOT considered a HOMESCHOOLED student when attending ARCA. This means that you may not choose to take some academic courses at your local school and some at ARCA..
Due to being a public virtual school, our students are allowed to attend their local school for the purpose of a AAA sport only. This is a AAA ruling under special circumstances, and ARCA is specifically listed. In the AAA handbook, it requires that the student be enrolled in one class only during the day. This is usually the class that is attached to the sport ( Football, Basketball, Band, etc); however, you must check with your local school district to see if the sport you are wanting to participate in is one that your school district has paid for it to be a part of the AAA sanctioning. IF your sport is covered under AAA, but only meets after school hours( does not have its own class period during the day), then the course you sign up for with your local district needs to be one that we do not offer here at ARCA. PLEASE Check with your school counselor for course options. IF you have any questions or are unsure of whether or not your sport qualifies, please speak with your counselor.
* Also please note that the AAA ruling gives the local school district the ability to allow our students to attend/play, but that does not mean that your student will automatically be able to participate in the sport at your local school. Please read the AAA handbook for detailed information.
DUAL ENROLLMENT For VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR SUCCESS PLAN UP TO DATE IN ORDER TO ATTEND!!
** IF you are interested in taking vocational classes for high school credit , those programs are offered to all Junior (11th) and Senior ( 12th) level high school students attending ARCA. Some centers will offer programs to 10th grade students, and fewer will offer to 9th. You would be responsible for transportation to and from daily classes. You may look at the available centers in Arkansas and the programs they offer by clicking on link to directory below. If you are wanting to attend, please contact your current counselor for next steps. Most of the fees are paid for by the State of Arkansas; however, there are a few programs that require a payment. You will need to FIRST contact your ARCA counselor to let them know your plan and they will help you with the registration process, then you will apply with your center (this will usually be the one that your local school district uses, but not always), and always make sure your center knows that you are enrolled with ARCA and not your local school district. It will be your responsibility to know what days and times to be at the center as well as transportation to and from and possibly any additional fees that may be needed.
* IF you have moved over to ARCA and were already enrolled at a local center, you should be able to continue at that center as long as the center and your ARCA counselor are aware of the situation in order to complete the transfer.

Most centers operate on a first come, first serve basis, so early enrollment is crucial for popular programs. The centers website will have when they will start taking enrollments.

The Arkansas Concurrent Challenge Scholarship covers the cost of the first two classes ($125.00 for each course) and therefore students will not need to pay for their first two courses with the exception of Personal Finance. Personal Finance unfortunately is not covered under the Arkansas Concurrent Challenge Scholarship and would cost $125.00. Any course over two (except for Personal Finance) would cost $125.00 per course. Students are responsible for the cost of textbooks as this is not covered by the scholarship.
